A few days before the start of KBIS 2019, North America’s largest trade show dedicated to all aspects of kitchen and bath design, which will be celebrated this year in Las Vegas, we chated with Toni Lleó, COMPAC’s  Continental Manager for America, about the trends and tastes of American professionals and customers.

What are the current trends in the sector in the US?

Vintage style, matte finishes, inspiration in natural stones, organic materials such wood and basalt. Matte black will also continue to be a predominant finish for kitchen fixtures, hardware accents, and even millwork profile details. Black feels fresh as a crisp accent color in light-colored kitchens, and black finishes are a way to add some drama without fully darkening the kitchen. Tall backsplashes covering the entire wall. The trend of classic marble looking colors with even more dramatic Calacatta with a touch gold vein is still a highly demanded pattern.

Are there notable differences with regard to professionals from other markets such as Europe or Asia?

US follows up very much European trends specially in highly demand design markets as New York and California and they adapt that inspiration on the large kitchen areas you can find in California or in the small urban spaces you can find in Manhattan.

With the US being such a large nation with so many contrasts, are there differences in terms of preference for certain materials depending on the area of the country?

Yes, absolutely, New York, New England they prefer an urban organic style using uniform colors inspired by concrete, zement, metal, wood. Other markets are more open to lighter colors, imitating natural stone or marble looking colors. The Unique Calacatta design offers an elegant and timeless touch and great to be displayed in large kitchens.

Are there differences in how US professionals use quartz and marble compared to their European counterparts?

It’s the same anywhere, engineered marble is a material specified predominately in flooring for the advantages that offers.

Compac is attending KBIS to be closer to its customers and sector professionals. What will they find at the stand?

A different Brand and manufacturer that offers multiple surface solutions with more than 40 years of experience in commercial and residential projects.

How has COMPAC’s presence in the US evolved?
